Dave C. asks readers for advice on modifiying his RV.

I have a class B Roadtrek (’94). The seats convert to a Queen sized bed. However, when I do this conversion, it looks like I need to support the two long cushions over the aisle by using a support (In this case, a sheet of cut plywood). The instructions are not clear how to do the conversion. Can you help?

Dave,
Under one of the seats is a table top which is a piece of wood that is covered with formica. Mine is on the right seat looking towards the rear of the van.

You take down the top part of the center section, I assume you know that, put that in front of the divider unit and then the piece mentioned above sets between this and the two sides of the seat.

There are challenges to this set up. I have the Roadtrek 190 Class B.

I have also found it easier if you put the smaller pieces on the outer sides and the larger pieces in the middle. Firmer and stay in place easier.

A good fitted mattress cover and bottom sheet seem to hold it all together. Depending on the length of yourself, you may wish to sleep rear to front of the van or even side to side. I found side to side more comfortable.

However, I will confess, since I travel mostly by myself. I make up one twin and have the best of both worlds.

Another trick is to go to the dollar store and buy those reflective sun ray thingies, they are silver in color, fold them to size and place behind the curtains. Keeps your head warmer.

I also put them in my skylight panes to keep the curtains from fading. I use them around the entire passenger seat area at night for darkness, ease of use, and great privacy. Keeps the cold out too, not to mention the summer heat.

Hope this if helpful foghornbarb@yahoo.com

I have more class b tricks to keep it simple and enjoyable. I love my camper!!!
Dear Holly,
What do you mean when you state...."You take down the top part of the center section,
i>b>(What is the center section you are referring to?)

I assume you know that, put that in front of the divider unit
(What do you mean when you are refering to the divider unit?)
and then the piece mentioned above sets between this and the two sides of the seat.

Not sure how to explain it. The plywood slides right into the middle and the cushions go on top. It's very comfortable and fairly easy. Try it a couple of ways and see how the wood piece fits. Good luck
