We are a family of six and are looking to purchase our first motor home. We are looking at Class C or A's and have a 2001 COACHMEN 3480DS AURORA. It has close to 8,000 miles on it and seems to be in good condition (no rust or dents). Does anyone have any experience with this brand. We are really very excited about getting starting in RVing- but I don't want to jump into something that we can't handle. We are buying from a local dealer for under $40k. Another private dealer told us that the price was too high and that he could find us a better deal. We are at a loss as to what to do
my experience in buying a motorhome. A few years ago I bought a 1977 coachman motorhome. It was the best thing I could have done. I have looked at new model but did not want to pay $40k to $90k the coachman I found was on Craig's list. It only had 35k it has every thing even the generator I only pay 2000 . Before you buy, look around and do not buy the first thing you come across. As gas prices go up the price of the motorhome will go down.!!!!!!!!!.
Check eBay, craigslist, . Even if you buy a older motorhome that needs some work on it. Trust me, it will be cheap on you if you can do the work. So what if it needs new carpet. To put new carpet in my coachman costed me 75 dollars.
So when you go out and look at a used motorhome. Look at it and then think, what can I do to make it better, and I guarantee it will be a whole lot cheaper. I hope some of this might help . Good luck to you thwhite81@yahoo.com
