Brand new here - looking for a Class B or C in Portland, OR area, figure I should buy it and get used to it on weekends before I go full-time. I'd thought about renting various models to try them out, but boy are they expensive! Anyone want to share shopping and/or try before you buy experiences?
Hello everyone we finally did it. We purchased our first Class A and now I am ready to hit the road. Being new to the organization, However not new to RVing (1965)from a fold over tent trailer to a cabover to bumper pulls and 5th wheels to motorhomes back to 5th wheels, I feel somewhat knowledgeable about RVing , there are so many and many of the designers haven't spent anytime in an RV, you can search, look, try, and unless you are very very fortunate, every RV show or dealership you stop to kick tires, you will find something you like about this one or that one. My suggestion is to hit the RV shoiws and dealershipss. Do not let the salespeople sell you something that is to small or to large or worn out or out of your budget, when the truth be known, and this is experience speaking, 40 someodd years and 45 of the 50 beautiful states and yes, there is a Santa Claus. Most salespeople have never spent a night in an RV. In closing I have not a clue as to what kind of RVto tell you to buy. I will bet you money, most of the experienced RVers , Will tell you the same thing. Happy hunting and more especially may you have as many happy memories as Jo & I have had. Bob and Joanna McElyea
HI there I am also new here and we are very new to this forum and the RV life but not very new to the Open Road we travel around Texas just about all the time. Before I was pregnant we used to go skiing every winter and we are waiting for her to turn 3 or 4 before we head back to the Mountains.
One tip that the sales man at Crestview in Selma and the Privet Individual gave to us was not to leave the black tank empty. Once you have empty it out they told us to get a big bag of Ice from the gas station or wherever and just poor it in to the toilet.
Not sure if this helps and we have yet to try it but maybe some of you that are more knowledgeable out their can tell me if this is a good idea? Or maybe something we should add to the cleaning or anything else?
