george which do you recomend. 5th wheel or trailor. we own a lance camper that we put a solar panel and three batteries too/ we love it for back woods camping which we do allot of. we are considering a 5th wheel. we do not no the quality or differences in them as in models etc. our truck is a 2001 dodge 2400valve with 70k on it, sorft of tall. with air bags under back axle for stability.we live in norfthern calif. 200 miles north of san fran.just wondering.thanks ken

thanks george, excuse my poor computer skills. those concerns are the same ones i had.....i dont like the look of the 5th wheel tipped down in the back either, and i dont have allot of experience in backing trailors , or 5th wheels, but i can learn anything.i think when jane and i upgrade to a nicer rv, i would like it to be a 5th wheel for some reason, i believe its cause i have seen trailors sway on the road, and the time i watched a guy spend an hour trying to get his trailor to back into a spot in a campground near lassen national park,. of course a half hour later a full timer and his wife pulled in and between them both were set up totally in 20 minutes.....we may have to wait and buy a 3500 model truck and set it up for the 5th wheel. i dont want to get rid of the camper its in great shape.i work on it. and have had the time of my life in it.
i had cancer this year in my liver, but killed it by doing a chemo-embolism. thought i was ok, they told me i was to fly to florida this week and have a liver transplant, then i got a call and jane and i listened while they said i was not a candidate at this time, and must wait till i am in worse shape.....besides being told i had cancer in december, this has been the most stressful time of my life. something in my head just wants to get out on the road and go.....i wish i had your wisdom and experience . i look on line all the time for something a bit bigger. your right though and i know it, its my truck that is holding me back , even if it has low mileage and is in great shape. cant afford a new truck, and rv.....by the way if you buy a new rv in oregon, do you have to pay the extra taxes when you live in calif.? i used to live in oregon, loved it. grants pass, and prineville. thank you so much for answering, happy trails, and that is a great picture of you and your wife....ken and jane
