My husband and I used to travel together but he died 6 months ago and I am at a loss where to go and what to do now. I want to start RVing again but it seems like such an undertaking alone. Any ideas?

Judy, do you have any friends that would go rv'ing with you? You could try to see if there are any groups in your area that you could join. Example Good Sams clubs. When my husband passed away I looked into these groups but it wasn't for me at the time. Most of the clubs were older and I had a 6 year old son at the time. It might be something to check into. Also as far as not knowing the RV very well and how everything works do you have the books that came with the camper? If you do you could go through them and try to learn how some of the systems work etc. If you don't have the books you could try going on line to the maker of your camper and they might have the manuals that you need to learn about your rv.

i have ssome idea's first hook up your hose , flush out all lines.drain tank close drain... put in 1 cup of bleach fill tank , pump bleach through lines including the shower. let sit overnight. drain tank , fill then run through lines, refill.........do this till you dont smell any bleach open the line to hot water tank fill drain then fill again. fill fresh water tank again......put battery charger on battery while your doing all this leave overnight.........put in you clothes , food ect. on your way stop at a tire shop and ask them to check your tires , slip them 5.00 then stop at a propane store and fill up your tanks , when you get to a campground there will be lots of people who can get jyour frig. hot water tank going and show anything else. you need to know , good camping bc.

Hi Judy: I, too, am a newbie, having bought my Class C (27 foot) this past April. What gets us out? Clubs. There are lots of clubs out there, with something for everyone. I first joined Good Sam's Club, then FMCA. There are many others that you can Google to learn about. Each of the national clubs have chapters. Once you locate your chapters, you can go on their sites and find out when and where rallys are going to be held for a given date. Contact them in advance via email or phone and let them know of your interest in joining or visiting first -- don't just show up!! You'll find RVers are great folks and make you feel right at home. Once you make those contacts, you won't be able to stay home!!!

hey Judy;
what you need is some people near where you live to go out with you and you then can learn how to set up. we are also new at rv's but hope we will like it, we are used to tent camping but want to go anytime of the year and getting to old to sleep on the ground and freeze in the morning. We are taking our trailer out for the first time Thanksgiving for five days. Wish us luck!, we are about to fully retire in a few months and go on the road. good luck
